Overview

Getting to know in depth of Carnatic Music after exploring the probablity and combination of vocal exercises and swarasthanam practices in the beginner lessons. This course consists of the below lessons

  1. Geethams:
    • Geetham is a song which teaches how to apply understand a song and underlying notations for every word, every letter in the song. Geetham can be defined as a song with Swaram and Sahithyam, where swaram mean notation and Sahithyam mean Lyrics. The process of learning a new tune based on different Ragam with a specific thala+jathi is called as Geetham.
    • You will learn about 15 Geethams composed in different ragas, different thalams, different jathis, in different languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada composed by various composers
    • Geetham has no specific pattern like Pallavi, Anupallavi and Charanam. It has different paragraphs with different lyric but may have same tune of the previous para. 
    • One who has command in Swarasthanas, who has voice throw ranging from hight to low, who can sing jumbled notes as in Dhattu Varisaigal, one who can sing with Gamaka and Brigha, will be able to learn and sing Geethams effectively. 
  2. Swarajathis: 
    • Swarajathis are next level lessons after Geethams, which enables one to deep dive to Ragams, Thalams and Jathis to learn quick notations, swap between parts of the song, and sing a comprehensive tune.
    • There are three swarajathis composed in catchy tunes that anyone would not mind number of lines but understand the flow of the Ragam and Thalam and sing it at ease.
  3. Nottuswarams:
    • Nottuswarams are fast pased Tunes composed to enrich singing, to overcome stammaring, to sing fluently, to sing spontaneously, with proper breath management and swarasthanas management.
    • There are five nottuswarams, all composed in Shankarabharanam to give the learner a feel of how different a tune could be, how different style can be adopted to sing each, how madhyama kaala swarams can be sung and learn to swap octaves
